That’s definitely it. I see what you’re saying re: all of the movement - I think that’s one school of thought (let the movement play in the zone). That approach would lead to more contact (softer contact if he hits the inner/outer edge, hard contact if he doesn’t). It just seems like Stroman has decided that missing middle-middle is not something he can afford to do.
I wonder how much of that mentality comes from the park he’s pitching in now (and last year at Wrigley).
